Summer Updates

Plumeria in full summer bloom outside the treatment space

San Diego took a minute this year, but summer is definitely in full swing now. We have grapes coming in like crazy, avocados are getting plump, figs are only a couple weeks away, and we’ve been enjoying some of the best tomatoes I’ve ever had. The citrus are all looking great this year and I am super excited for oroblancos, tangerines, blood oranges, sweet limes, navels, and key limes in the near future. Our bananas are almost ripe, pomegranates are looking good, and all the dragon fruits are going buck wild. We’re also going to pilfer quite a few nectarines from our neighbor’s tree that grows over the fence. I would want them to do the same were the situation reversed.

My days have been filled with treating patients, swimming with the family, and partaking in all the good summer foods. I hope you’re enjoying yourself as well.

I have some updates to share:

  • I’m now treating patients Monday-Thursday, 10am-6pm. This adds an additional day and shaves off three hours from my mornings. This allows me more time to recharge and serve with more vitality.

  • My rate is $120 for the initial treatment, $100 for return treatments. Cash only, please.

  • I recently had a treatment with my “Israeli Witch Doctor”, Ariel Talmor. I send almost all my own patients to see Ariel at least once. He has decades of experience and his treatments are intense, but life-changing. Call or text (619) 227-0473 to schedule with him.

  • Speaking of Israelis, my summer reading list this year has been great as I continue along with Itzhak Bentov’s Stalking the Wild Pendulum: On The Mechanics Of Consciousness.

  • Face oil is ready! It’s organic and/or wildcrafted with green tea oil, raspberry seed oil, ginseng, goji berries, blue tansy, and more. It slides on smooth and penetrates deeply. Not greasy, smells wonderful. Available at my treatment space, $40/ounce. They went fast though and there are currently only two bottles left as of this writing.

  • I’m also making my own Agua Florida. When I went to Peru to work with a curandero almost two decades ago, Agua Florida was the ubiquitous bad vibe disintegrator for Ayahuasca ceremonies. You can buy the classic Agua Florida from Amazon, but I really like the stuff you make yourself. The simplest way is with essential oils, water, and witch hazel. You can get all these ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs.

    • 2 ounce atomizer spray bottle

    • 1 ounce water

    • 1 ounce witch hazel

    • 2 drops clove

    • 3 drops atlas cedarwood

    • 5 drops rosemary

    • 10 drops lavender

    • 15 drops “citrus mix” (proprietary MRH blend)

    • mix all ingredients together in spray bottle, shake, spray all over the place

  • It’s been getting hotter and I encourage you to try haymaker’s water for a potent rehydration. This drink is highly hydrating, far more so than plain water itself. As a matter of fact, you can think of water as more of a purification process than anything else. For true hydration, try this:

    • 1 gallon filtered or spring water, 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup lemon juice or raw apple cider vinegar, 1 cup molasses

    • Mix all ingredients and keep at room temperature while it sits overnight, stirring occasionally

    • Strain

    • Chill

    • Drink when it’s hot out and you’re exerting yourself

  • I’ve been eating a lot of cilantro the past couple months. Cilantro contains phytochemicals that have been found to bind to heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and aluminum. It is also rich in antioxidants, relieving oxidative stress. My favorite recipe has been a cilantro pesto that is super easy to make and will keep in the refrigerator for at least a few days as you snack on it or have it with meals. Your liver will thank you.

    • 3 bunches cilantro

    • 3 inches of turmeric root

    • 1.5 cups raw almonds (or whatever nut you want… almonds hold up well and provide a good texture as well as being relatively lower when it comes to histamine reactions)

    • 3 cloves garlic

    • 1 shallot

    • 1.5 cups olive oil (a nice grassy olive oil is best)

    • 1-3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

    • juice of 1 lemon

    • a few pinches of salt

    • a bunch of turns on the pepper grinder

    • grind it all up in the blender and that’s it

    • makes about a quart and you can use it with or on damn near anything

    • can adjust any of the ingredients up or down to taste

I’m going to get back to summering now.

See you at your next appointment.

—Jaime
